Touring CT Foodshare
Posted on March 31, 2025

Today, Rep. Klarides-Ditria had the opportunity to join several of her colleagues to tour the incredible Connecticut Foodshare facility in Wallingford.
CT Foodshare has been operating in each of our 169 towns for more than 43 years, and has 23 full time positions, 125 operations staff, and 20 mobile food pantry trucks which service 113 locations throughout the state. The main location is on Research Parkway in Wallingford, and they have two remote distribution offices in Bloomfield and Bridgeport.
During the tour, the legislators were able to get a first-hand look at the entire operation, from receiving the purchased and donated goods, to packaging and delivery to needy communities statewide. According to Foodshare officials, 65% of their funding and food stocks come from donations, but more than $900,000 in funding comes from the state. Out of the 44 million meals provided annually, 70% are provided through business, retail, and personal donations.
Officials also said recent cuts to federal programs will mean a loss of 1.4 million pounds of food equal to about $1.7 million in lost federal funding.
