Before the start of session, Rep. Klarides-Ditria joined several colleagues, capitol staff, lobbyists, and advocates for free training to learn how to “Stop The Bleed.”

As a certified athletic trainer, Rep. Klarides-Ditria was already well aware of these lifesaving techniques and joined the training to support her colleagues and advocate for increased education.

May is National Stop the Bleed Month, and trainers from ACS Stop The Bleed were at the Capitol with assistance from local hospital staff to teach these basic, lifesaving techniques. According to the group, learning to stop the bleed is a lifesaving skill, and the number one cause of preventable death after injury is bleeding.

The basic actions are straightforward and save lives.
1) Call 9-1-1
2) Apply pressure with hands
3) Pack the wound and press
4) Apply a tourniquet
