Seymour to Receive a State Grant for Maintenance of Neglected Cemeteries
Posted on April 3, 2025

The governor announced that the state is awarding state grants to 37 municipalities across Connecticut, including Seymour, for the purposes of providing maintenance to neglected cemeteries.
The $8,000 grants are being released under the state’s Neglected Cemetery Account Grant Program, which was established in 2014 and is administered by the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management (OPM).
To be eligible for a grant, towns and cities must have submitted an application to OPM.
Grants can be used by the municipalities to support basic maintenance of cemeteries, including the clearing of weeds, briars, and bushes; mowing of the ground’s lawn areas; repairing the ground’s fences or walls; and straightening, repairing, and restoring memorial stones.
