State Awards STEAP Grants to Beacon Falls, Seymour

$31.3 MILLION IN STATE GRANTS TO 77 SMALL TOWNS FOR INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS
State Representative Nicole Klarides-Ditria (R-105) today announced that the State has awarded two Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grants to Beacon Falls and Seymour for the continued improvement of local roadway infrastructure and repairs to the community center.
Beacon Falls is slated to receive $500,000 in state funding for a road improvement project at Church Street. This will be matched by $580,000 from the town.
Seymour is slated to receive $500,000 in state funding for improvements to the roof and elevator of the Seymour Community Center. This will be matched by $348,800 from the town.
“I am pleased the Office of Policy and Management recognized the need for these important investments as Beacon Falls and Seymour continue to improve the safety and accessibility for all residents,” Rep. Klarides-Ditria said. “I want to thank the OPM commissioner and the governor for including the Valley in this latest round of grant funding.”
By law, STEAP grants can only be used for capital projects, such as new construction or expansion, renovation or replacement for an existing facility or facilities. The grants are coordinated by the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management.
The grants are part of a larger $31.3 million package of state grants for 77 small towns announced by Governor Lamont earlier in the week. The grants are provided through the Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP), a state program managed by the Office of Policy and Management (OPM) that delivers grants to small towns for economic development, community conservation, and quality-of-life capital projects.
