$3.5 Million Grant Approved for the Seymour Housing Authority

First Selectwoman Annmarie Drugonis, Representative Nicole Klarides-Ditria, Senate Republican Leader Kevin Kelly, and Senator Eric Berthel applauded the State Bond Commission’s approval of a $3.5 million grant to the Seymour Housing Authority to finance infrastructure repairs and improvements to Castle Heights, an existing 31-unit single family townhouse property in the State Sponsored Housing Portfolio. The grant was awarded through the Department of Housing’s Flexible Housing Program and approved at today’s Bond Commission meeting.

“I appreciate the Governor and the Bond Commission recognizing and addressing the need at Castle Heights,” said First Selectwoman Drugonis. “The Town has been working in conjunction with the Seymour Housing Authority to make vital upgrades to this development, which has not been updated in a long time. This funding represents a large step forward in the project.”

“I want to thank the governor and Bond Commission for approving these funds to help the Seymour Housing Authority continue to make improvements to the Castle Heights complex, and for their ongoing commitment to investments in our local infrastructure that help make Seymour and the rest of the Valley a wonderful community to live, work and raise a family,” Rep. Klarides-Ditria said.

“Ensuring everyone in our state has safe, secure, and affordable housing is essential to making our state a better place for every family,” said Sen. Kelly. “I thank the state for recognizing the importance of investing in Seymour to ensure that necessary infrastructure is maintained and updated to best support our community and our families’ housing needs.”

“It’s vital that we do what we can to maintain Connecticut’s affordable housing infrastructure,” said Sen. Berthel. “This $3.5 million grant helps the Seymour Housing Authority to fulfill this goal at Castle Heights. Thank you to the governor and Bond Commission for recognizing the need for building improvements. These improvements are another positive step for viable affordable housing options for families in our area.”
