Sen. Jason Perillo and Rep. Nicole Klarides-Ditria Support Statewide Grassroots Tour Demanding “Relief” from Unaffordable Taxes & Electric Bills

State Senator Jason Perillo (R-Shelton) and State Representative Nicole Klarides-Ditria (R-Seymour) support Connecticut Republican leaders as they kick off a statewide grassroots tour to connect with job creators and local officials in their call for relief from rising living costs and business expenses.

Sen. Perillo stated, “Connecticut residents are facing an affordability crisis. Hardworking families are being forced to leave the state due to the second-highest electricity rates in the U.S. and the third-highest property taxes. We are on the wrong track; instead of welcoming hardworking families, we are leaving them no choice but to leave because they cannot afford to live here. I applaud and stand with my Senate Republican colleges as they push for relief and take a stand against the high cost of living Connecticut presents.”

The tour will serve as a platform for Connecticut residents, families, and business owners to voice their experiences and suggestions, helping lawmakers to develop a comprehensive approach to alleviate the economic pressures many are facing.

“Our state’s high cost of living, especially the seemingly always-increasing energy and electricity costs, are truly hurting Connecticut residents and hampering the ability of small and mid-sized businesses to invest, expand and thrive here,” Rep. Klarides-Ditria said. “It’s clear that the legislature needs to consider new and innovative ways to reduce these burdens while also providing accountability and predictability for ratepayers.”

“It’s crucial that we not only talk about these challenges but also present actionable solutions that can lead to real change,” Sen. Perillo added, “By standing together, leaders and citizens can pave the way for a brighter future in Connecticut that works for everyone. I look forward to embarking on this tour to hear from my constituents and the residents of CT what matters most to them.”
