Rep. Klarides-Ditria Takes Oath of Office to Begin First Term

HARTFORD- Nicole Klarides-Ditria was officially sworn-in for her first term as State Representative for the 105th General Assembly District today.

“It is truly an honor to represent the towns of Derby, Beacon Falls, and Seymour,” said Klarides-Ditria. “We have a lot of issues to tackle this legislative session, and I am ready to hit the ground running.”

Klarides-Ditria also received her legislative committee assignments this week. She will serve on three legislative committees which include the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, the Public Health Committee, and the Regulation Review Committee.

“One of my top priorities this session is to fight the growing opioid addiction epidemic,” explained Klarides-Ditria. “We will not eradicate the widespread usage of opioids and opiates overnight, but we need to act now to pass legislation that will help reduce the use of these narcotics and to increase penalties on individuals that deal Fentanyl.”

The General Assembly will be facing a significant budget shortfall entering the 2017 Legislative Session.  The projected budget deficit for the biennial budget, covering 2018 through 2020, is approximately $3.5 billion.

“We need to work together this legislative session to restore sustainability and predictability to our state government,” added Klarides-Ditria. “Our budgetary woes continue to drive businesses and residents out of the state, and it’s time to roll up our selves and get to work to solve this problem.”

Rep. Klarides-Ditria can be reached at Nicole.Klarides-Ditria@housegop.ct.gov or 800-842-1423. Constituents can follow her legislative endeavors by checking her website www.repnkd.com or connecting with her on Facebook at www.facebook.com/repnkd.
