SHELTON – Valley lawmakers attended the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce legislative breakfast this morning at PerkinElmer in Shelton to listen to business owners and professionals and to talk about the upcoming legislative session that starts on Wednesday, February 5th.

“Businesses in our state have been the target of many bad policies passed by the majority party,” said Rep. Klarides-Ditria. “The new payroll tax, the increase in business filing fees and the minimum wage are just a few examples of anti-business bills that were passed last session by Democratic lawmakers. Instead of penalizing our business community we need to be focused on ways to promote and increase economic development in the Valley.”

Lawmakers this session will be faced with another state budget deficit that will need to be closed by the end of the fiscal year. In addition, Democratic lawmakers are trying to pass truck-only tolls, which part of the bill contains a section that will allow for cars to be tolled in two years.
