BEACON FALLS- State Representative Nicole Klarides-Ditria hosted a district-wide themed art contest for all 5th-grade students in the towns of Beacon Falls, Seymour, and her portion of Derby this month. On Friday, Rep. Klarides-Ditria visited Laurel Ledge Elementary School in Beacon Falls to meet their chosen winner of the contest, Isabella Paupini.
“As a new State Representative, my top priority is to stay closely connected to my constituents of all ages,” said Rep. Klarides-Ditria. “I am very proud to have grown up in the Valley, and I’d like the walls in my office to display the rich traditions of the towns of Beacon Falls, Seymour, and Derby. For this reason, I decided to hold an art contest for all 5th-grade students in the 105th district and to have the winner’s artwork displayed in my office.”
Art teachers throughout the 105th district were asked to judge the student’s artwork based on appearance, relevance, and insight into their community. Isabella Paupini, the winner from Beacon Falls, spent weeks perfecting her excellent piece of art that showed off her pride for the town. Paupini highlighted the different events held in the town of Beacon Falls throughout the year including the annual Duck Race, the Beacon Hose Firemen’s Carnival and Parade, and the town’s fireworks.
“Isabella’s artwork truly embraces her pride for the town of Beacon Falls,” added Rep. Klarides-Ditria. “Her creativity will shine brightly on the walls of my office for all visitors to see. I want to thank all the students at Laurel Ledge that participated in the art contest and look forward to seeing them at the State Capitol later this year.”
The winners from the towns of Seymour and Derby will be chosen at the end of the month. The three pieces of art will be displayed above Rep. Klarides-Ditria’s desk in Hartford.
