On September 7, I signed onto a letter with my colleagues imploring the governor to meet with DPH and the CIAC and work out a way that our youth can continue with football this coming fall or possibly in the spring. You can read the letter and its signatories below.
The decision to suspend youth football is not the right one. Our youth need this outlet amidst the stress of this pandemic, for both their mental and physical health. Not to mention that many of our students’ depend on athletic scholarships they my not be eligible for if they take a year off.
We have already shown that we are able to play without a spike. Our youth need this, and I hope you will join us in this fight. Please email your thoughts to governor.lamont@ct.gov and together we can work towards a better path forward.
