Beacon Falls Legislators Host a Productive Town Hall Meeting

BEACON FALLS- State Rep. Nicole Klarides-Ditria and State Senator George Logan held an engaging and productive Legislative Town Hall meeting in Beacon Falls on Thursday night to give their constituents the opportunity to discuss the issues impacting the state.
The Beacon Falls legislators focused the conversation on the dire fiscal situation facing the state of Connecticut. Rep. Klarides-Ditria and Senator Logan reported that the state is confronted with a $3.5 billion deficit for the fiscal years 2018 and 2019. The lawmakers said they are both working on creating policies that will strengthen the economic climate of Connecticut by focusing on reducing burdensome regulations on businesses and prioritizing state spending.
“Having community discussions with residents about the policies being created in Hartford are greatly needed, especially during tough fiscal times,” said Rep. Klarides-Ditria. “We are going to have to prioritize our spending and create a business friendly environment if we want Connecticut to be an affordable and competitive place to live and work. Senator Logan and I are hopeful that our colleagues on the other side of the aisle will work with us to pass a budget that doesn’t push our state’s fiscal woes onto the backs of future generations and municipalities.”
“Rep. Klarides-Ditria and I thank Beacon Falls taxpayers for coming out to our meeting and asking excellent questions,” Sen. Logan said. “We are working to improve everyone’s quality of life in Beacon Falls and throughout the region. I urge residents to email me any time at George.Logan@cga.ct.gov . Other topics of discussion included health care, tolls, education funding, paid family medical leave, state bonding, and the proposal to increase pistol permit fees. The legislators said they are against the governor’s plan to increase pistol permit fees by nearly 400 percent.
