Last week, I voted against a bill that seeks to establish government-sanctioned drug use sites, allowing folks to use illegal drugs in an open environment. This would attract drug dealers and crime while also not addressing the crime itself of using illegal drugs publicly. As someone who has lost loved ones to addiction, this was an emotional, yet necessary vote in opposition to a bill that enables addiction, instead of preventing it.
