Rep. Kennedy Op-Ed: Coronavirus: We Will Come Through This

Right now, everyone is glued to their television sets at home with our families, a little anxious about their finances and work situations and wondering what the next step is to fight this terrible coronavirus and worldwide pandemic.

First off, it starts with everyone being selfless, in the face of this national health emergency. We are all witnessing daily acts of kindness and sacrifice.

It’s essential that we each do our part to flatten the curve and save lives. This means staying home, unless you are an “essential worker”, need groceries or medical supplies.

If you have a few minutes in your day, please take some time to call neighbors, relatives, and friends who may be home alone. Just knowing that they are not in this alone may make that person’s day.

One of the essential reasons we occasionally have to leave our homes for is food – either groceries or supporting one of our local restaurants. If you have the ability, please reach out to our local Milford and Orange restaurants, who desperately need our help to survive and provide jobs and order some take-out or have some food delivered. This is one way to help.

I continue my role as the State Representative for the 119th Assembly District, ready to work for you and do anything possible to assist state residents and businesses during this difficult time.

We are in this health and economic disaster together and we will defeat this virus. And Connecticut and the United States will come back bigger and better than ever.

As always, please contact me should you have any questions about the coronavirus or concerns on any other issues relating to state government at Kathy.Kennedy@housegop.ct.gov or at (800) 842-1423. I do frequently update my State Facebook page and my state website with the latest COVID-19 information.

Why I Voted “NO” on the State Budget

Last night, I stood against the State Budget proposal that overspends money we don’t have, raises taxes on businesses and consumers, and makes our state more unaffordable over the next two years. Remember: This budget is a 700+ page document that addresses a wide variety of issues, many of which do NOT reflect our desires […]

Advocating for Child and Senior Safety

Today, I proudly stood with members of the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity, & Opportunity (CWCSEO) and colleagues on the Transportation Committee in support of HB 7159, also known as the Yellow Envelope Bill. This bill will help law enforcement safely communicate with persons who have intellectual and physical disabilities. Each yellow envelope provides […]
