    Please see information below about the upcoming hearings regarding United Illuminating’s rate increase request and their response to Tropical Storm Isaias.

    Energy and Technology Committee: August 27, 10:30 am

    On August 27 at 10:30 am, the legislative Energy and  Technology Hearing will be hosting an informational forum via Zoom. This hearing is expected to cover a far-ranging set of issues, from the role of state utility regulators and the process of setting rates to utility staffing levels and how the companies communicate with customers and municipalities during outages. Top United Illuminating and Eversource Executives will participate. While the public cannot participate in the hearing, email comments are encouraged. If you choose to email testimony, please include Docket No. 20-08-03 in the subject line.

    PURA: United Illuminating Rate Increase Request, September 4, 10 am

    The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) will be hosting a hearing on September 4 at 10 am to address rate increases proposed by United Illuminating (UI). The rate increases amounts to a 4.7% increase in the total bill.

    The hearing will be conducted via Zoom and anyone wishing to follow or participate must first register online here. After registering, a confirmation will be provided with a direct link to the online proceedings. Public comment will be accepted at the end of the hearing; however written testimony can be emailed anytime to the Authority at pura.information@ct.gov prior to the conclusion of the hearing.

    PURA: United Illuminating Storm Response, October 21-23

    Three consecutive public hearings related to UI and Eversource’s response to Tropical Storm Isaias have been scheduled starting October 21st through October 23rd. More details on the public hearings are not available at the moment, but as information emerges I will share it with you. PURA is currently accepting public comments at pura.information@ct.gov. If you choose to email testimony, please include Docket No. 20-08-03 in the subject line.
