State Rep. Arnold Jensen this week held another successful legislative Coffee and Conversation at the Oxford Public Library, where concerned residents discussed environmental issues, including the ban on plastics in schools, proposals to restrict municipal use of gas-powered equipment, a shark fin ban, banning helium filled balloons, the plastic bag ban, and the Passport to Parks program and associated fees.
The group also discussed proposed legislation to allow for a regulated hunting season on black bears, and what impacts it may have on a town like Oxford.
Special education funding and energy concerns were two important parts of their conversation, especially the recently increased public benefit charges that have been causing concerns for electric ratepayers across the state.
