Over the weekend, I received an update on the status of the Larkin Bridle Trail and it is good news!
Responding to my inquiry, officials from the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) said that just last month their engineering unit “selected SLR as the design and permitting consultant for all four significant washouts of the Larkin Bridle Trail” and that the process has begun.
They said several approvals are in place and they’re currently working on land surveys and other details before work can begin. Concerns remain regarding the washout areas, and engineers are working with their Land Water Resources Division “to ensure all necessary and required measures are implemented in the interim and formal design.”
They also noted that “an extensive tree removal project will begin soon along the 1200′ section of the Larkin Bridle Trail from Jeremy Swamp Rd to Curt Smith Rd.” and that more information and public notice will be provided on the Statewide Tree Damage page.
As always, I’ll post any updates as I receive them!
