LEDYARD- State Reps. Greg Howard (R-43) and Brian Lanoue (R-45) hosted a legislative town hall wrap-up for over a dozen Ledyard constituents this week at the Ledyard Public Library.

Both Reps. Howard and Lanoue discussed some of the major pieces of legislation passed this session, primarily the two-year state budget which effects every aspect of peoples’ lives in Connecticut from education funding to senior care.

As the Ranking House Republican on the Public Safety and Security committee and a member of the Judiciary committee, Rep. Howard talked about bills related to crime, guns, and police and if the legislature addressed the problem of juvenile crime, violent crime, traffic fatalities or did they fail to enact real consequences for criminal behavior and restrict law enforcement maintaining public safety measures on our streets and in our neighborhoods.

“I want to thank everyone who came out to hear us and for asking questions. I encourage people to stay involved and plugged in on what their elected state officials are doing. Sometimes you my constituents will hear or see a headline in the news about a proposal that sounds great and contact me for legislative support, unfortunately the devil is in the details and the bill language falls way short of solving the actual problem,” said Rep. Howard.

Rep. Lanoue said, “I want to thank everyone who took time out of their summer to join us at the Bill Library last night. It is important to be able to set up these legislative updates, so our constituents know exactly what is going on in their state. At the same time and more importantly, we are able to hear from our constituents on the issues that matter most to them.”

For anyone who was unable to attend but would like to talk to their legislators please call, Reps. Howard and Lanoue at their State Capitol office at 1.800.842.1423 or email them at Greg.Howard@housegop.ct.gov or Brian.Lanoue@cga.ct.gov.
