Reps. Howard, France Host Successful Town Hall

Despite having to postpone for one week to accommodate an important town meeting, State Representatives Mike France (R-42) and Greg Howard R-(43) Monday night hosted a successful Town Hall event, meeting with 10 concerned citizens.

Starting at 6 p.m. and held in the Ledyard Town Hall Annex building, Reps. France and Howard provided a brief, general overview of the past legislative session and specifics related to the legislative committees each serves on.  Following their introductions, the two lawmakers took questions directly from the audience.

For more than an hour, an engaging conversation took place on a wide variety of topics including race, women’s reproductive healthcare, individual rights, taxation, Federal ARPA and Covid-19 funding, municipal and residential water line replacement, the U.S. southern border issue and its potential effects on Connecticut, and much more.

As the evening wound down the conversation even took a more light-hearted tone with one resident expressing minor frustration with state law regarding the sale of Tesla automobiles. Noting that consumers are forced to travel to a neighboring state to buy one, he asked if and when legislation to align Tesla and the state’s dealership model laws would be passed. Before ending the evening, Reps. France and Howard assured him that the issue would be brought up again during future sessions, noting there had been at least one proposal in each of the last four years.
