HARTFORD- State Rep. Greg Howard (R-43) testified in support of legislation requiring wider edge lines on a Connecticut limited access highway in accordance with the Federal Highway Administration’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways.

According to Rep. Howard, there are many transportation reports with crash data indicating that wider edge lines do lead to less traffic accidents.

“As a police officer and a legislator, I’ve been a strong advocate for road safety in our state and this proposal for wider edge lines would significantly reduce crashes on our state roads,” said Rep. Greg Howard.

The Transportation Committee held a hearing on House Bill 7060, An Act Concerning Transportation Worker Safety on Wednesday February 26th.

Edge lines help define the outer boundaries of the roadway, providing a visual cue for drivers to stay within their lanes, especially in poor weather or at night.
