HARTFORD – State Representative Leslee Hill (R-Canton) participated in the legislature’s Fire/EMS Caucus meeting at the Legislative Office Building on Wednesday afternoon. The bi-partisan caucus was reestablished in May of 2017 by both Republican and Democratic legislators, with the intention to hear from fire departments across the state and form cohesive recommendations of how to implement the best policies that support first responders.
Rep. Hill said, “It is important to all of the residents in Canton and Avon that we ensure our firefighters have the resources needed to perform their daily tasks effectively and safely. The brave women and men who rise to the occasion to face danger on a daily basis should not be concerned with faulty equipment or a lack of general resources to respond appropriately in an emergency situation. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to craft public policies that benefit our first responders.”
The caucus meets on a monthly basis. Recommendations are expected to be presented primarily to the Public Safety & Security Committee in the coming weeks.
