BROOKFIELD – State Rep. Stephen Harding (R-107) last Thursday hosted a “Pizza and Politics” event at John’s Best Pizza and Restaurant in Brookfield in preparation for the 2020 legislative session, which convened on February 5th.

At the event, Rep. Harding fielded thoughts and questions from constituents on a range of major issues the legislature is expected to debate this year, including problems with the state’s transportation infrastructure and the cost of living in Connecticut. Also of concern were Governor Ned Lamont’s proposed truck-only tolls proposals. Many of the constituents addressed issues with the burden tolls would place on the local area, as well as a lack of trust that this new revenue would actually be used toward the transportation infrastructure that the governor promises.

“Thank you to everybody that participated in this important community discussion,” said Rep. Harding, who represents Brookfield and parts of Bethel and Danbury. “This is a particularly critical year for the legislature as we debate issues that will undoubtedly shape the future of this state. I truly enjoy hearing from constituents and better understanding their opinions and concerns, and always use their input when making legislative decisions.”

Anybody who was unable to attend Rep. Harding’s event, but has concerns or questions about state government, is encouraged to contact the legislator at Stephen.Harding@housegop.ct.gov or 800-842-1423.
