Rep. Hall Joins Special Guests at Hazardville Memorial Elementary for Reading Event

Key Takeaways

  • Rep. Carol Hall volunteers as a special guest reader at Hazardville Memorial Elementary.
  • School pairs community volunteers when students' chosen guests cannot attend.
  • Hall read children’s author Mo Willems’ popular Pigeon and Elephant books.

State Rep. Carol Hall had the honor of being a special guest this morning during Hazardville Memorial's annual reading event. As part of this event, each student gets to choose their very own special person to come into their classroom and read alongside them for a period of time. For students whose special person is unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict, work, or some other reason, the school reaches out to various community members to fill in as that student's special guest.

"It was extremely special to have had the opportunity to volunteer and be Lilly's special guest," Rep. Hall said. She is a big fan of Mo Willems, so I got a chance to learned who he is and all about the Pigeon and Piggie and Gerald."

"Thank you to Principal Fitzsimons for having me and Ms. Killmer for inviting me into her classroom. It was a very special day and one I won't forget."
