State Rep. Carol Hall Receives 2021 -2023 Legislative Assignments

State Representative Carol Hall (R-59) received her 2021-2023 legislative assignments on Friday, December 4, 2020. It was announced that Rep. Hall will serve in House Republican Leadership as Assistant House Leader.
“I am truly honored to be appointed to our House Republican Leadership Team as Assistant House Republican Leader. It has been a great privilege for me to serve as Ranking Member to Higher Education for the past two years, but it is with great pleasure and humility that I accept my new leadership role. I would like to thank my House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora for having faith and trust in me to move me up into a leadership position as Assistant House Leader,” said State Representative Carol Hall.
Hall, recently elected to her third term as state representative of the 59th General Assembly District, which encompasses the towns of East Windsor and Enfield, will once again serve on the Appropriations Committee, Public Safety and Security Committee and will be joining the Planning and Development Committee. Her new legislative leadership responsibilities will begin at the start of the next legislative session on January 6, 2021.
“I am also looking forward to returning to the Appropriations Committee and working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to tackle what is arguable one of our most important issues – the state budget,” added State Representative Carol Hall. “I am eager to contribute to my legislative assignments to ultimately move Connecticut forward in a sustainable and responsible way, especially given all of the hardships that so many have endured as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic.”
According to the Connecticut General Assembly, the Appropriations Committee “…has cognizance of all matters relating to appropriations and the budgets of state agencies. Other issues under the committee’s jurisdiction include matters relating to state employees’ salaries, benefits and retirement, teachers’ retirement and veterans’ pensions and collective bargaining agreements and arbitration awards for all state employees.”
The Public Safety and Security Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, and civil preparedness and homeland security, state police, the state-wide organized crime investigative task force, municipal police training, fire marshals, the fire safety code, the state building code, and legalized gambling.
The Planning and Development Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to local governments, housing, urban renewal, fire, sewer and metropolitan districts, home rule and planning and zoning; regional planning and development activities and the State Plan of Conservation and Development, and economic development programs impacting local governments.
