Reps. Hall And Stokes: Read Across America Day Is Bigger Than Both Of Us

Rep. Hall reads to preschoolers at Head Start in Enfield, CT.
ENFIELD – This week, State Representatives Carol Hall (R-59) and Greg Stokes (R-58) paid a visit to Head Start in Enfield to participate in Read Across America Day. In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Reps. Hall and Stokes joined in on the nationwide celebration by reading to students.
“I had such a great time reading to kindergarteners, including my grandson, at Head Start in Enfield,” said Rep. Stokes. “To promote reading to students at such a young age will surely play a beneficial part in their lives. I am honored to have been invited to participate in such a fun and worthwhile event.”
Before going to Head Start in Enfield, Rep. Hall began the morning reading to students at Broad Brook Elementary School. “It was a pleasure to spend the morning in a few classrooms around the district,” said Rep. Hall. “I had such a wonderful morning spending time reading to students at Broad Brook Elementary School and at Head Start in Enfield. The kids were so much fun; it’s truly one of the things I enjoy the most. I want to thank both schools for allowing me to read to the students during Read Across America week.”
According to their website, The National Education Association seeks to build a nation of readers through its signature program, NEA’s Read Across America. Now in its 20th year, this year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.
