HARTFORD – State Representative Carol Hall (R-59) issued the following statement applauding the approval of “An Act Concerning Authorization of State Grant Commitments for School Building Projects” during Special Session on Monday, July 22nd.
“This is an important project for Enfield students, JFK Middle School has been in need of repairs and upgrades for some time. The project will renovate the school to ‘as new’ conditions. The renovations will add classroom space, a new auditorium and modern technology.
“Another important component to the project will be improved security features to control the flow of visitors and keep students safe throughout the day.
“I was proud to vote to secure this reimbursement for Enfield. The state will cover just over 70% of the estimated costs significantly reducing the burden on local tax payers.”
The estimated grant from the state will cover an estimated $59,365,050 of the projected $84,373,294 in total construction costs. The project was approved by Enfield voters in a referendum on November, 6, 2018.
