House Republicans today offered a Reality Check for Connecticut with a state budget proposal that lowers energy costs, shrinks the size of government, focuses on healthcare, and supports education.
Budget Highlights Include:
⚡Reduce electric bills by beginning to remove the “public benefits” charge
🌲Eliminate the “Passport to Parks” fee on motor vehicle registration
📉 Reduce state agency operating costs by 5% (across-the-board)
🩺Increase Medicaid rates by $137.5 million to support struggling healthcare providers
🛑Impose a two-year wage freeze on state employees, following four years of 33% salary increases
🏥Reduce health insurance bills by removing administrative costs passed on to customers
📈Support contributions to pensions and debt to protect Connecticut’s future
