East Windsor – State Representatives Chris Davis (R-57) and Carol Hall (R-59) participated in the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign, ringing the bells for donations at the East Windsor Walmart, last Tuesday evening December 5th. The money raised during the legislators’ East Windsor event will be donated to programs for East Windsor families in need. Additionally, Walmart has guaranteed that they will match the donations to the Salvation Army collected by lawmakers throughout the state up to $25,000.

“I was excited to join this time-honored holiday tradition and raise money for great local organizations,” said Rep. Hall. “Service and giving to those in need are important values, I am proud to represent a generous community and deeply appreciate Walmart’s matching donations.”

“I look forward to ringing the bell for the Salvation Army every year, said Rep. Davis. “The Salvation Army is committed to helping those in our community that need it the most. I want to thank all the residents who donated and all residents who donate their time or money during the holiday season and throughout the year to help those in need.”

Funds raised go to local centers and help provide food, clothing, and toys for families in need. The money collected during the holiday season also helps the Salvation Army fund critical yearlong programs that help provide aid for families, seniors, and the homeless throughout the year.

Annually, the Salvation Army assists approximately 25 million Americans helping provide food, shelter, disaster relief, rehabilitation centers, anti-human trafficking efforts, and many other programs. The Red Kettle Campaign was started in 1891, and has become a well-recognized tradition that has raised millions of dollars to help those in need.
