The Town of East Windsor, Windsor, and Ellington’s emergency radio system will get a major upgrade thanks in large part to an $8M grant-in-aid approved during the State Bond Commission’s meeting Friday.
As part of the North Central Connecticut Police and Public Safety Infrastructure project, each of the three municipalities will now be able to connect to the state’s emergency system, leading to improved emergency communications among first responders in the region.
“I am thrilled to see East Windsor’s grant-in-aid request for radio communications has been approved by the State Bonding Committee,” Rep. Hall said. I would like to thank the governor’s office for recognizing how important good communication is for our public safety responders in our region. These funds will ensure the future needs for radio hardware, along with the communication tower, will bring our public safety into the 21st century. I would also like to thank our Chief Matthew Carl and East Windsor officials for bringing this very important project to our attention.”
