September 19-25 is Child Passenger Safety Week, and September 25, 2021 National Seat Check Saturday!

According to the US Department of Transportation and NHTSA, car crashes are a leading cause of death for children and an estimated 374 were injured every day in 2019 while riding in cars, SUVs, pickups, and vans.

  • 608 child passenger vehicle occupants died in traffic crashes in 2019.
  • 38% of children who died in 2019 while riding in passenger vehicles were unrestrained, compared to 33% in 2018.

It’s important to make sure children are properly restrained when riding in vehicles, and that means making sure you have them properly secured in the correct car seat for their age, height, and weight.

For more information on how to determine if your child is in the right seat for his or her age and size, please go to NHTSA.gov/TheRightSeat or (Spanish) NHTSA.gov/Protegidos.
