EAST HAMPTON – State Representative Irene Haines (R-34) met with Chief Growth Officer Cici Bevin and toured the factory of historic bell maker Bevin Brothers Manufacturing Co.

East Hampton, known as “Bell Town” has been home to bell manufacturers since 1808. In 1832 brothers William, Chauncey and Abner Bevin started a family business that is now in its sixth generation. The historic Bevin factory was destroyed in a fire in 2012 and the company moved into a new space nearby. Since the fire, the company has rebuilt and started to expand.

“I had the pleasure of working in the office at the original Bevin factory in the 2000s. I was very pleased to see how the company has rebuilt since the fire,” said Rep. Haines. “It’s impressive to learn about their sales growth in recent years and their expansion into new markets such as commercial gas cylinders. It was a pleasure learning more about one of the oldest manufacturers in our state and getting their perspective on our state’s business climate.”
