EAST HAMPTON – State Representative Irene Haines (R-34) participated in the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign, ringing the bell for donations at the Stop & Shop on East High Street, on Monday afternoon December 9th.

“It was an honor to join this time-honored holiday tradition and ring the bell for the Salvation Army,” said Rep. Haines. “There are many in our community and across our region in need, I greatly appreciated everyone who stopped by to donate.”

Rep. Haines was joined by LT. Hernandez from the Salvation Army. Funds raised go to local centers and help provide holiday dinners, clothing and toys for families in need. Funding sometimes stretches beyond the holiday season.

Annually the Salvation Army assists approximately 25 million Americans helping provide food, shelter, disaster relief, rehabilitation centers, anti-human trafficking efforts, and many other programs. As a group, the House and Senate Republican Caucuses have raised more than $200,000 for the Salvation Army over the past several years.

The iconic Red Kettle Campaign was started in 1891 and has become a well-recognized tradition that has raised millions of dollars to help those in need. For more information on the program visit: www.salvationarmyusa.org.
