HARTFORD— On Wednesday, two local state representatives from eastern Connecticut voted in favor of measures to help protect the public from recent wrong-way driving incidents plaguing our roadways. State Representatives Irene Haines (R-34) and Mark DeCaprio (R-48) joined their colleagues in Connecticut’s House of Representatives unanimously in passing the legislation.

On Monday, the Governor’s Office along with the Department of Environmental Protection announced a state grant rollout to plan, built, expand, and improve 50 trails across the state. Two of which that will directly improve trails in East Haddam and East Hampton. Last week, the Town of Salem was awarded a state grant through the Open Space and Watershed Land Acquisition Program and Community Gardens Program for the Salem Land Trust.

Last week I had the opportunity to testify in front of the Public Health Committee on three bills that impact local first responders who provide so much to our communities. On Thursday morning, the National Association for Rare Disorders held a legislative breakfast at the State Capitol that I had the opportunity to attend. I was there in support of all people who suffer from various rare diseases, that face a multitude of challenges that they face on a day-to-day basis.
