EAST HAMPTON – State Representative Haines kicked off the new legislative session by attending the Town of East Hampton’s Commission on Aging. Like many states, Connecticut faces challenges related to a growing elderly population and the high costs of living affecting many seniors who want to remain in their homes while receiving care.

In 2024, the legislature passed acts to support home-based care for seniors (PA-24-39) and improve the management and oversight of long-term care facilities (PA-24-141). Rep. Haines will continue to monitor the Aging Committee and inform her constituents of the work they are doing.

Rep. Haines encouraged her constituents to contact all their representatives in the General Assembly. “This outreach aims to acknowledge the needs of our elderly population and to foster an environment where aging residents can receive care while living comfortably at home.” Rep. Haines concluded.
