HARTFORDState Representative Robin Green (R-55) joined her legislative colleagues on both sides of the aisle in calling on Governor Lamont to include a bill proposal to address sexual misconduct on college campuses to next week’s Special Session agenda.

“Acting on this bill now ensures that students at our universities will be protected. By pushing this off another few months, it will strip away any protections we will be able to solidify the moment this bill gets passed and signed into law,” Rep. Green said.

The proposal, Senate Bill 19, An Act Concerning Sexual Misconduct on College Campuses, would establish a Council on Sexual Misconduct Climate Survey to be used by institutions of higher education in the state. The bill would also protect students who report being a victim or witness of sexual assault, stalking or violence from disciplinary action by the institution.

“This nonpartisan issue was brought before the Higher Education Committee earlier this year and I along with my colleagues on the Higher Ed committee supported its passing then and I fully support its passing now,” Rep. Green said.

The bill received unanimous support when voted on by the committee in March.
