The Never Ending Tolls Debate

In a recent article published by the ct mirror, Governor Lamont addressed members of the AFL-CIO during their biennial convention and highlighted a $20 billion toll plan “he intends to roll out this month.” Once again, despite hours and hours of public testimony in opposition to previous plans, multiple forums across the state, a rally at the State Capitol, and overwhelming disapproval from residents and select members from his own party, Governor Lamont doesn’t seem to get the message. By continuing to push his tolls agenda, Governor Lamont is completely ignoring what the people of this state have been saying for almost ten months, they don’t want tolls….

Residents of this state are fed up with government taking more of their hard earned money. Why would they support tolls when from 2000 to 2021 more than $900 million will have been ‘diverted’ from reaching the Special Transportation Fund. Why would the people of Connecticut trust that elected officials who control our state’s checkbook do what they said they’d do with the revenue? Why would it suddenly start now?
