Rep. France Collecting American Flags in Need of Retirement

HARTFORD — State Representative Mike France (R-42), a U.S. Navy Veteran, is holding a flag drive from May 31st to June 14th, during which constituents can drop off worn and damaged American Flags to be properly and honorably disposed of.

WHEN: May 31 – June 14, 2019

DROP-OFF BOXES WILL BE LOCATED AT:

Ledyard Town Hall
741 Colonel Ledyard Highway

Preston Town Hall
389 Route 2

The ceremony for disposal of unserviceable flags will be held by the American Legion Post 112 in Uncasville.

According to the U.S. Flag Code, when the American flag is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by a controlled burning ceremony.
