Today, we celebrated Connecticut’s Heroine and an iconic American educator, Prudence Crandall. Prudence broke barriers by accepting young African American women into her school because she believed everyone had the right to a quality education. My late colleague and dear friend, State Rep. Betty Boukus, played a key role in securing funding for the statue commemorating Prudence, which can be found in the South Lobby of the State Capitol.
