CHAPLIN – State Representative Doug Dubitsky (R-47) presented Chaplin Elementary School, Parish Hill Middle/High School, and their art teachers, Karen Avis and Genevieve Govoni with legislative citations for their work on a local art project.

“It was wonderful to present these well-deserved citations to Ms. Avis, Mrs. Govoni, and to Chaplin Elementary School and Parish Hill Middle/High School for their hard work and creativity. I know I speak for all of my colleagues at the State Capitol when I say thank you for brightening up the People’s House in Hartford with your lovely art,” Rep. Dubitsky said.

Earlier this year, Brian Cohen, a Chaplin resident and co-founder of Positive Expression, an art based non-profit organization designed to promote positive expression through art, held an exhibit titled “Away with the Negativity,” where students from seven area schools created artworks which they displayed at Mansfield’s East Brook Mall.

From among the artworks exhibited, Cohen chose a few exceptional pieces to showcase at the State Capitol’s concourse gallery.
