Rep. Dubitsky Sits on Panel at the “Shirt off My Back Tour” in Norwich

NORWICH – State Representative Doug Dubitsky (R-47) joined former U.S. Congressman Rob Simmons and the Yankee Institute for Public Policy on September 8th for the Norwich stop of the “Shirt off My Back” tour. Rep. Dubitsky was asked to sit on a panel and answer questions at the town-hall style meeting.
The tour, which has already made stops in Milford and Fairfield, is meant to provide an outlet to frustrated citizens who feel like the state is taxing “the shirts off their backs.” Those in attendance were able to ask the panelists questions, share the impact their tax burden has on their everyday lives, and offer suggestions on how they think government should be run.
“The people of this state earn our money by devoting our time to labor for it. When the government takes our money, they are essentially seizing valuable time out of our lives and compelling us to labor for the government’s interest,” Rep. Dubitsky said. “Government should be allowed to take from us only what is absolutely necessary to maintain those vital governmental functions the private sector cannot provide. The state must then be held accountable to those who labored for that money to spend those tax dollars wisely.”
