Legislators Break Ground at QVCC Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center

DANIELSON – State Representatives Mike Alberts (R-50) and Doug Dubitsky (R-47) celebrated the groundbreaking of Quinnebaug Valley Community College’s (QVCC) new Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center on October 30th with fellow legislators, QVCC President Carlee Drummer and other dignitaries.
As one of Connecticut’s four advanced manufacturing centers, QVCC is already well known for its challenging and hands-on curriculum. The new Center will include 10,000 square feet of classrooms, offices, labs, and a machine shop. The new building will allow the program to continue growing as students prepare for the thousands of highly skilled jobs waiting to be filled in Connecticut and across the nation. It will also cement the College’s position as a leader in advanced manufacturing training.
“Increasing the level of space, staff support and equipment for this particular program will further provide students of the Quiet Corner with unique opportunities that can lead to lasting and lucrative careers,” Rep. Alberts said. “It is an honor to be here to support QVCC as they begin this project, and to have been a part of the effort to secure funding from the state to make it happen.”
“It is a real privilege to help break ground on a project that will give students of Eastern Connecticut an opportunity to educate themselves in an industry with such incredible growth potential,” Rep. Dubitsky said. “I am proud to know that this new facility will help propel our region into the forefront of advanced manufacturing, and that students throughout the region will be able to take advantage of this powerful new resource.”
