HARTFORD – State Representative Doug Dubitsky (R-Chaplin) applauded the state Bond Commission today as they approved bonding for repairs to the Savin Lake Dam in Lebanon totaling $881,572.
The money will be allocated to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), who will oversee the repairs. The project will repair the deteriorated spillway and improve public access to the lake and parking. Last year, the Commission allocated $2,985,600 to DEEP to begin the project.
This funding is awarded in accordance to Public Act 13-239, which was passed to authorize bonds for capital improvement projects, transportation improvements, and other purposes. The Savin Lake Dam is eligible for these funds as a state-owned dam.
“The dam serves a necessary function in protecting its neighboring areas from water damage, and is also a local recreation spot,” Rep. Dubitsky said. “Increasing its access and safety is necessary and I am grateful that this additional funding is being allocated for the completion of the project.”
