The 2015 Spring Wild Turkey Hunting Season opened on April 29 and lasts until May 30. Hunting is permitted from one half hour before sunrise until noon. Hunters may take two bearded turkeys on state land and three on private land. As always, you will need a Private Land Consent Form signed by the landowner to hunt on private land.
You may find information on obtaining a permit and Private Land Consent Form on the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s website or over the counter at some DEEP offices, town clerks offices, or commercial vendors that sell hunting and fishing gear.
All harvested turkeys must be tagged and reported to DEEP within 24 hours, either online or by phone: 1-877-337-4868. Copies of 2015 tags and instructions are available on page 27 of the Connecticut Hunting and Trapping Guide.
