The nonprofit RecycleCT is launching a new app (downloadable from the App Store and Google Play) that will allow users to type in an item to find out if it can be placed in the recycling bin or not. Often, entire truckloads of recycling may be rejected because they are mixed with non-recyclables, making it extremely difficult to sort at the facilities. Will increase costs on working families

HARTFORD—State Rep. Laura Devlin (R-134) on Tuesday voted against a new highway use tax on trucks that food and trucking industry advocates say will increase the costs of goods and services here.

HARTFORD- In an effort encourage people to redeem containers, instead of throwing them into the recycling bins at their homes, State Rep. Laura Devlin (R-134) supported legislation which expands the state bottle bill law to include bottled non-carbonated beverages like juice, tea, bottled water and sports drinks in 2023, will increase the deposit to 10 cents starting January, 2024, add a 5-cent surcharge to ‘nips’, and increases the amount provided to administer the program.
