Installation and Revision of Traffic Control Signals in Various Towns

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced that preliminary work including lane closures is scheduled to begin on August 10, 2020, (weather dependent) for the installation of traffic control signals in various towns. Work will be performed at intersections in Cromwell, Manchester, South Windsor, Newington, Plainville, Southington and Wolcott at the following locations:

South Windsor:
Intersection # 132-214 Route 194 at Pierce Road
Cromwell:
Intersection # 033-216 – Route 3 at Berlin Road
Manchester:
Intersection # 076-257 Route 6&44 at I-84 EB Ramps
Intersection # 076-258 Route 44 at I-84 WB Ramps
Newington:
Intersection # 093-230 Route 176 at Route 174
Plainville:
Intersection # 109-222 Route 372 at Whiting Street
Southington:
Intersection # 131-241 Route 322 at I-84 WB Ramps
Intersection # 131-242 Route 322 at I-84 EB Ramps
Wolcott:
Intersection # 106-206 Route 69 at Kreger Drive

The project consists of replacing the existing traffic signals with new span poles and the associated items such as trenching, backfilling, new conduits, video detection and hand holes to complete the new installations. Also, pedestrian modifications such as new sidewalk ramps and pedestrian push buttons.

DOT Project No. 0171-0417 was awarded to Electricals Contractors, Inc. at a cost of $1,783,551.90 on November 4, 2019, and is scheduled to be completed on May 16, 2021.

LANE CLOSURE INFO
Lane closures for ramps, turning roadways and all other project roadways may occur Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.
