    In the most recent edition of the River East Bulletin, I outlined some details about the state budget.

    I wanted to also mention that as a member of the Appropriations Committee, an area I have been involved and concerned about is education funding for local school districts. I am committed to continue to allocate education cost share funding that Colchester and other small town school districts rely on.

    The 2025 state budget adjustments will be the focus of the upcoming session, and the Governor’s budget chief stated that the fiscal guardrails I voted for last year will be the guidepost for decision making in the months ahead. These fiscal guardrails have provided for over $7.6 billion in additional deposits towards our unfunded state liabilities, lowering Connecticut’s debt from $95 billion to about $81 billion.
