From the Connecticut Department of Transportation-

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that exit numbering will be revised on Route 2 both east and westbound from Norwich to Hartford, and Route 11 both north and southbound. This project is scheduled to occur on Tuesday, January 7 and be completed by February 2025. The project 0172-0490 consists of the exit renumbering and replacement of highway signs along the Route 2 and Route 11 corridors that have reached or exceeded their useful life. The exits are being renumbered to mileage-based numbering to conform to Federal standards and are part of a multi-year effort on all the State’s highways.

Motorists can expect to see both old and new exit numbers displayed throughout the transition for a few days while work progresses. Variable message signs will be advising motorists in the area for the week prior to work.

For more detailed information on exit renumbering, visit https://portal.ct.gov/dot/traffic-engineering/exit-renumbering.

CTDOT Project No. 0172-0490 was awarded to A.M. Rizzo Electrical Contractors, Inc. at a cost of $17,186,676.00 on December 13, 2021, and is scheduled for final completion in February of 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 5 in New Haven.

    LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

There will be temporary lane and shoulder closures on Route 2 east and westbound and on Route 11 north and southbound throughout January and February 2025. Traffic control signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
