DeCaprio Applauds Community Investment Fund Board Recommendation of Grants for SCADD

Hartford — The Community Investment Fund Board (CIF) met Tuesday to make recommendations on Round 5 Awards, including $250,000 for the Southeastern Council on Alcoholism & Drug Dependence, Inc., in New London. State Representative Mark DeCaprio (R-48) wrote a letter in firm support of this project in June.
Now that the CIF Board has reviewed the applications and the state Department of Economic and Community Development’s summaries, they are recommending the project for funding, which was applauded by DeCaprio.
“When I met with SCADD, it was evident that they are not only committed to combating substance use disorders, but also possess a well-thought-out and strategic plan for achieving tangible results. They are taking the necessary steps to ensure they are properly meeting the needs of the community,” said Rep. DeCaprio.
The $250,000 allocation would fund the New London Recovery Community project, a community for individuals in recovery on Coit and Reed Streets in New London.
“I am particularly impressed with the organization’s track record of success and the measurable impact it has had on individuals and families dealing with addiction,” Rep. DeCaprio added.
SCADD has been working since 1966 in pursuit of its mission to provide quality, affordable, treatment services centered around hope, connection, and empowerment for every person who is seeking recovery while making a positive impact in the communities they serve. They currently serve more than 5,000 individuals and their families annually through several programs and locations.
“The proposed project not only builds upon these successes but also introduces innovative strategies that will expand their services and make a lasting difference in the community,” Rep. DeCaprio concluded.
Governor Lamont will review the CIF recommendations and, if he approves the applications, will forward them to the State Bond Commission. That Commission will issue final approval for recommended applications.
There are two remaining State Bond Commission meetings scheduled this year, October 25, 2024, and December 6, 2024.
