State Bonding Commission Approves $8 Million for Remediation at Plainfield’s InterRoyal Site
Posted on April 14, 2025

“On Friday, the State Bonding Commission approved $8 million for remediation of the former InterRoyal mill site in Plainfield, that was destroyed by a massive three-day fire in 2005. Plainfield’s InterRoyal site is a brownfield consisting of a long-abandoned manufacturing facility, which sits in the very heart of Plainfield’s downtown. The funding will help in completing the remediation and transformation of this site into a new mixed-use community that will be a great addition to the Town of Plainfield, the Northeastern Connecticut region, and the entire State. With the commission’s decision, it is nice to see our hard-earned tax dollars come back to this site, and we look forward to watching the advancement of this important project in the Town of Plainfield.”
