H.B. No. 6389 Is No Good For Families- No Good For Connecticut

We are back in session today in the House of Representatives, but I wanted to point out a bill that saw hours of debate last Tuesday evening. The Democrat majority in the legislature’s sights continued to be set on removing more parental rights by passing damaging legislation. In the latest blow to a parent’s right to do what is in the best interest of their child, H.B. No. 6389: An Act Concerning Explanations of Benefits, was passed and will now head to the Senate for further debate. The bill title doesn’t seem all that controversial, but as always, the devil is in the details.

If passed by the Senate and signed into law by the governor, children would be able to seek treatment for mental health issues, substance abuse, sexually transmitted disease testing/treatment and reproductive health, with no explanation of benefits provided to the parents by insurance companies. Just a bill that the parents would be obligated, by law to pay, while having no information on what type of treatment their minor child received. Legislation being passed during this session is further separating a parent’s ability to do what is in the best interest of their children. These are deeply, personal issues that parents should be able to assist their child with and not be left in the dark.

Over the years, I have seen many concerning pieces of legislation being brought in front of us. What we have seen over the past two weeks has been some of the most vulgar displays of power by the Democrats stripping away parental rights as we know it.
