Recently, State Representative Rick Hayes and I had the opportunity to tour new or expanding businesses in Dayville, and it was a great afternoon! We presented the four businesses with legislative citations to mark their accomplishments and contributions to our community. We started our day at Sugarz Bakery, to congratulate them on their opening and expansion. They have amazing cakes, cookies, and breakfast sandwiches and I encourage you to check them out.  From there it was off to the Nail Lounge and Spa, which is a full-service spa with a friendly staff. It is a new business in town that is currently looking for help, you can find out more about them on their Facebook page.

According to their website, Rol-Vac is an industry leader for converted Metallized & Clear films. They recently expanded their site adding another 30,000 sq. feet of space and employ just under 40 people and run two shifts a day. The Metalized and Clear films that they make are used in to make potato chip bags, granola bar wrappers, and are also used in microwave popcorn bags which heat the kernels. It was a very informative sit down with management, and we learned a lot about their day to day. Our last visit of the day was to Miyoshi America Inc, the global leader in the development and manufacture of surface treated pigments and mineral substrates for the cosmetics industry. The site was impressive, and they recently installed a 842 KW ground mounted solar power generating system. We were very impressed with all the different fun incentives that they offered their employees for the purpose of team building.

I want to thank Mary Calorio and Jill St. Clair all these great businesses for allowing us to take a tour of their facilities. There is lots going on in Dayville and I am glad we had the opportunity to meet with everyone!

State Representative Anne Dauphinais, the Ranking House Republican Member on the Committee on Children, today issued the following statement on DCF Performance Audit Findings

“The findings of the audit offer a sobering snapshot of the immense challenges facing DCF—alongside some deeply troubling failures in both performance and procedure. Some of these shortcomings, like those involving the STAR group home, were already known. But that makes them no less unacceptable. Children in these situations are among the most vulnerable in […]

Rep. Dauphinais Responds to New Trust Act Law

During Wednesday’s House Session, we spent hours debating H.B. 7259, AN ACT CONCERNING REVISIONS TO VARIOUS STATUTES CONCERNING CRIMINAL JUSTICE, which includes the Trust Act. What’s new, you ask? Prohibits police from communicating with ICE in many cases involving illegal aliens arrested for criminal activity. Expands restrictions to members of the state’s court system and […]
